Run for Joy Challenge: Your questions answered

Run for Joy Challenge: Your questions answered

Ready to join us for our Run for Joy Challenge? We're so glad you're here. This challenge isn't about pace or pressure; it's about finding joy in movement and celebrating what our bodies can do. We want to help you let go of expectations and reconnect with the simple pleasure of running.

To help you find the challenge that feels right for you, we've answered your most common questions below.

Enrolments are now open, and we start this journey together on Monday.

What will my week look like?

Each week, you'll complete 1, 2 or 3 guided runs (depending on the challenge you choose) plus 1 breathwork practice and 1 mobility or strength session to support your body and mind. It's about moving in ways that feel good and building a rhythm that works for you.

How do I choose the right challenge for me?

Our challenges are based on your ideal running rituals:

  • Begin = 1 run per week

  • Build = 2 runs per week

  • Evolve = 3 runs per week

  • Return = 2 runs per week (designed for new mums ready to ease back into running)

Choose what feels right for where you are now. There's no wrong answer.

What equipment will I need?

All you need is a KICApp subscription, your headphones, a supportive crop, comfortable activewear and most importantly, a good pair of runners - we recommend the New Balance Ellipse. They’re the perfect all-rounder runner!

What is a 'guided run'?

Pop in your headphones and hit start running in the app. Steph will guide you through each run, letting you know when to pick up the pace or slow it down to catch your breath. Each run has a set intention to help you spark joy—not just move your body, but reconnect with it.

Can I listen to music during my runs?

Absolutely. We encourage running to a playlist that motivates and brings you joy. You'll hear from Steph on and off throughout your runs, but she's not speaking to you the entire time. Make it yours.

I'm new to running. Is this challenge made for me?

Yes. Our Begin challenge is perfect for you. Steph will guide you through 1 interval run each week, where you'll switch between running and walking as you build up your running confidence. We meet you where you are.

I'm ready to build on my running training. What would you recommend?

We recommend either our Build (2 runs per week) or Evolve (3 runs per week) challenges. Both will help you grow stronger while staying connected to the joy of movement.

When can I start running again after I’ve had a baby?

Every postpartum recovery is unique. Some people may feel ready to start running around six months after birth, while others might need closer to 12 months. Both timelines are completely normal. Recovery is not a race, and giving your body the time it needs is the most important thing.

However, as a general guide, we recommend getting clearance for ‘high impact movement’ from your GP or health professional, and waiting at least three months postpartum before returning to running.  This gives your body, especially your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, crucial time to recover from the demands of pregnancy and childbirth.

For more information on returning to running postpartum, please read this blog.

How far will I be running?

This challenge isn't about distance - it's all about letting go of pressure and finding joy. You control the pace. Each run is time-based, ranging from 20 to 90 minutes depending on your challenge, so how far you run is entirely up to you.

What if I miss a run?

Life happens. We get it. If you miss a run, it will be waiting for you in the app. This challenge moves with you, not against you.

I need some new runners. What do you recommend?

The foundations of a great run begin with the shoes on your feet. Our choice? The New Balance Ellipse. The comfort of the Fresh Foam X cushioning makes every step feel ‘bouncy’, we highly recommend! The Ellipse are perfect for your everyday movement to your long weekend runs.

Complete your first run, and we’ll gift you a New Balance reward towards a brand new pair.
