Life can often feel like a juggling act. Between work, commitments, and the endless to-do lists, it is easy to feel disconnected from yourself. That is why we believe so strongly in the power of pausing, breathing, and moving with intention.
At KIC, we want to help you find that sense of calm without the pressure of getting to a studio on time. Our KIC yoga offering is designed to be your sanctuary, accessible whenever you need it. Whether you are rolling out your mat for a sweaty flow or a gentle stretch before bed, we are here to support you.
Through the app, you can explore hundreds of guided yoga sessions from the comfort of your living room. There is no judgment here, just a supportive community moving together. Forget about perfecting the pose; this is about how it feels for you.
What is yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together the mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation, and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress. But at its heart, yoga is a tool for self-discovery.
It is not about being the most flexible person in the room or mastering a handstand. It is about showing up on your yoga mat and connecting with your breath. It is a practice of listening to your body and giving it what it needs in that moment.
At KIC, we offer a safe space for you to explore this connection. With expert guidance from our incredible trainers — Karen, Cecily, and Jamie — you will find routines that nurture your body and mind, regardless of your experience level.
Types of yoga
The world of yoga is vast, and it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming when you are just starting out. Here is a breakdown of the styles you will find in the KIC app, so you can choose the flow that suits your mood.
What is Vinyasa yoga?
If you love to move and flow, Vinyasa is for you. This style links breath with movement in a continuous sequence. It is dynamic, energising, and a beautiful way to build heat in the body. It often feels like a moving meditation.
What is Hatha yoga?
Hatha is often slower-paced than Vinyasa. It involves holding poses for longer periods, allowing you to really focus on alignment and breath. It is a fantastic foundation for yoga for beginners at home, helping you learn the shapes and build strength steadily.
What is Yin yoga?
Yin is the perfect antidote to a busy life. It is a slow, passive style of yoga where poses are held for several minutes at a time. This targets the deep connective tissues — the fascia, ligaments, and joints. It is deeply restorative and encourages you to turn inward and slow down.
What is Somatic yoga?
Somatic yoga focuses on internal physical perception and experience. It uses slow, mindful movements to re-train the brain and body connection, helping to release chronic tension and pain. It is gentle, accessible, and deeply healing.
What are the benefits of yoga?
Stepping onto your mat regularly can transform how you feel, both physically and mentally. The benefits of a consistent at home yoga routine ripple out into every part of your day.
- Improved flexibility and balance: Regular practice lengthens tight muscles and improves your range of motion.
- Greater strength: Holding poses builds functional strength using your own body weight.
- Stress reduction: The focus on breathwork and mindfulness calms the nervous system, helping you manage anxiety.
- Better sleep: Gentle yoga before bed can help you wind down and prepare for a restful night.
- Enhanced mind-body connection: It teaches you to be present and aware of your physical and emotional state.
Yoga is also a wonderful complement to other forms of movement. It can improve your mobility for Strength training, aid recovery after a KICRun session, or provide a grounding counter-balance to high-energy Cardio workouts.
How to do yoga
Starting a yoga practice does not need to be complicated. In fact, keeping it simple is often the best way to build a habit that sticks.
Create your space
You do not need a dedicated studio room. Just find a small, quiet corner where you can roll out your mat. This is your home yoga setup. Maybe light a candle or dim the lights to signal to your brain that it is time to slow down.
Listen to your body
This is the most important rule. If a pose hurts, back off. Yoga should never be painful. Our trainers will always offer modifications, so you can adjust the practice to suit your body.
Start small
You do not need to practice for an hour every day. Even 10 or 15 minutes of movement can make a huge difference. Consistency is key. Our yoga app offers classes ranging from 5 to 45 minutes, so you can always find time to flow.
Use props
Don't be afraid to use props like blocks, straps, or even a cushion from your couch. They are not signs of weakness; they are tools to help you access poses safely and comfortably.
